Chalkboard Pantry Door Update

24th Nov 2018

I’m excited to share this little project we completed over the weekend.  Originally we had hoped to replace the pantry door with a door from Luke’s old family farmhouse.  Unfortunately it was just too damaged so we went with plan b and I do really love how it turned out.  The new door is a 1-Panel Hollow Core Slab Door from Lowe’s. Luke used a router jig (also from Lowe’s) and the old door as a template for the hinges. Color-wise I was trying to coordinate with my favorite little vintagey radio… as you can see in the before pic […]

Frames for my vintage art prints

15th Mar 2018

In my previous post about our kitchen update I shared that I have some vintage ad reproductions I wanted to incorporate. Luke finished frames for them this weekend and I am in love! And the bonus is the total cost was $0 as we had the boards and the stain already. Luke cut the boards and angles, my Dad cut the dado groove in the backside to hold the glass (we used glass panel molding to make it super easy) and Levi then had a little fun distressing them. Luke then stained them in our favorite Minwax Early American stain. […]

Updating our green and yellow kitchen!

20th Feb 2018

Guess what? I/we inadvertently started our kitchen update!  😀 Here is where we started, a little over a year ago, DAY ONE – moving day! (Hence all the clutter everywhere, the two dressers and potted trees sitting in the kitchen….) And below is my inspiration board for the space.  Live edge shelves for all of my vintage bottles and glassware, white subway tile, pendant lighting and two of my favorite vintage ads on the back wall (hoping to fit a little breakfast nook back in that corner). The flooring pictured is Mannington’s Deco in Wrought Iron (same brand we used […]

The Art Gallery… aka the Foyer

28th Oct 2017

One of my priorities in our new house was to make sure we have a place to display the kids artwork. In the past I’ve used frames… but actually changing out their masterpieces happened very rarely! Browsing Amazon I came across this set of jute twine and mini clothespins.  We hung two strands with old fashioned nails. I then worked with Nana’s Little Nest to create this amazing custom sign! We finished it with 2 coats of Rust-oleum Hammered Spray Paint in Dark Bronze. The light fixture was also changed out for this galvanized farmhouse style one… only $20!! Here is […]

Main Bathroom Reveal!

26th Oct 2017

Our main bathroom / kids bathroom is the first project we tackled upon moving in! Updating the sink and replacing the toilet and fixtures was a priority. I wanted to give the space a fun vibe since it’s for the kiddos,  yet stay true to the rustic/farmhouse feel we envision for the rest of our home. Here are the before pictures, days after moving in:     And here is my inspiration board for what I envisioned! I *almost* went with the flooring pictured in my inspiration board. It’s a vinyl flooring by Tarkett I’ve seen featured on a few […]
