Instead of purchasing store bought cards, I always try to make something for special occasions – and I have to admit our holiday crafts usually involve some sort of handprint/footprint art! It’s meaningful to the recipient, fun for us and (usually) easy clean up!
I’ve had this post from House of Baby Piranha pinned on my Pinterest board forever and thought it would be perfect for little guy’s four grandmom’s (yep, he is so blessed to have two grandmother’s, a great-grandmother, and a great-great grandmother). In Word & using one of my favorite vintage fonts I added the words “You Make My World Berry Sweet” in bright red at the top of the page, and “Happy Mother’s Day 2012” at the bottom with plenty of space in between for his handprint. (If you want, you can print a PDF of my template here – Strawberry_MothersDayPrintable!)
– Paint the palm of your child’s hand red (we used Crayola washable paint) or have them do it if they can (I used a cotton ball which is quick & easy), and placed his print on all four pages.
– After washing up, we came back and painted on the green stems.
– For the black seeds, we used the end of chopsticks which worked perfectly!
Have fun — & Happy Mother’s Day!!
