I can’t believe my youngest is One! As with all of my kiddos I started thinking about her 1st birthday party early on. Emmie is such a happy little girl and sunflowers seemed a perfect theme for our little sunshine’s October birthday!
This invitation (from Sunnyside Print & Party of course!) incorporates the rustic elements as well as vintage sunflowers and I love that I got to show offer 4 of my favorite photos of her 1st year.
This coordinating 1st birthday poster noting her height and weight, her favorite things and milestones is also by Sunnyside Print & Party — it comes as a high resolution JPG ready for printing. A friend took Emmie’s 1st birthday pictures at their farm and this made such an awesome photo prop, as well as decoration at her party! The lovely vintage style frame is from Hobby Lobby. Emmie’s adorable yellow lace romper is from the CuteNspoiled boutique.
On to the actual party…
I found these gorgeous sunflowers at our local Acme and put them in mason jars, a yellow tablecloth and burlap runner (only $4 at Walmart!). I already had the yellow framed chalkboard so that was perfect for our menu. Ideally we would have had our birthday bbq outside but the weather didn’t cooperate and it was a very rainy, cloudy day!
I printed the 16×20 poster via Vistaprint, as I did the coordinating vinyl sunflower banner. The banner design is also from Sunnyside Print & Party and comes as a customized high resolution file all ready to upload – so super easy!
I made her 5″ round smash cake (a simple pumpkin spice cake with cream cheese icing). The adorable “One” cake topper is from Nana’s Little Nest on Etsy. It is 4″ the perfect size for her little cake…. I gave it a couple coats of yellow acrylic and just love how it turned out.
These blossom baking cups are so cute! I filled them with brownie batter and topped each one with a few extra chocolate chips for a sunflower like appearance 🙂
Favors! These seed packet favors (also from Sunnyside Print & Party) come as a printable PDF file. Just print on glossy text weight paper, cut out and assemble. I used a double sided adhesive tape roller to assemble them, and yes, they take some time but were so worth it! I was able to find a bulk bag of Mammoth Sunflower seeds at Tractor Supply.
I always get the kids a book on their birthday and I asked everyone to sign this one called The Sunflower Parable. I love that she’ll have this special keepsake to read together for years to come. It’s a beautiful little story for the whole family!
Balloons. Also from Amazon! I fell in love with the gold “one” balloon. Many of the reviews said that the barcode was printed on the front but I didn’t have that issue — my only negative was that it didn’t actually float on its own, it needs to be hung up by strings on either side. The large sunflower balloon was awesome and so much bigger than I anticipated!
I told Luke I thought this was one of the cutest party themes we’ve done and he laughed and said I say that with every party! All in all though I was super tickled how everything turned out for our littlest sunshine! Happy 1st Birthday sweet Emmie. You are so loved!
